#19: How My Agent Helped Me Buy My First House
As you prepare to buy your first house, you will need a team to support you and get you to the closing table. And one of the most important people on that team is your real estate agent. I was very strategic in finding the right one for me. I had spoken with my family and friends for recommendations but ultimately ended up going through a down payment assistance program’s database to find my lender, who then introduced me to my agent (at my request).
My process was a little different. I wanted to follow the money and work with a lender who understood my situation. After that, I asked for her list of preferred agents and that’s how I landed with my agent of choice.
In this video, I discuss how important she was to my first-time home buyer process as well as the criteria I outlined to determine if she was a good fit for me. I think a lot of first time home buyers get caught up in just going off recommendations, but I needed someone specific and someone that had a similar communication style/work ethic as me. This purchase was too big and too important for sloppiness.
