As the wealthy aunt, I made it a priority to open an investment accounts for kids. Specifically, my god son. Once I found out he was coming, I started channeling rich auntie vibes. I was the wealthy aunt even while I was paying debt haha. I didn’t want him to struggle the way I did with student loans, car notes, and just simply surviving. And that’s not to say that my mom didn’t prepare me for adulting because she did a great job. But we are all limited with money, time and resources.

So I had to learn how to manage it as an adult. I had to learn how to create an investment account for my god son (through the help of my financial planner). I knew that by the time he was 18, I wanted him to have options. Not just college. Maybe he wants to travel the world. Maybe he wants to start a business. This isn’t as common for people who look like me, but I hope that this helps you start thinking about how you can set your kids, god kids, nieces, nephews, whoever up for success!
