So you’ve decided to buy your first home, but not sure of which home type fits your needs? The home buying process is complicated enough so having to think about the pros and cons of different home types can make you even more tired. So, I did it for you!
Check out this video where I breakdown single-family homes vs. townhomes vs. condominiums (condos) vs. multi-unit properties so you can understand how they differ structurally, financially, and from a lifestyle perspective (which includes amenities, location, shared space, price, etc.).
For example, if you like living near attractions and don’t want to maintain major upkeep in your home, a condo might be best which is what I was considering - UNTIL I saw the condo fees associated with it. On the contrary, there are multi-unit properties - which are duplexes, triplexes, etc. This is what I wanted because it allows you to be a homeowner and a landlord at the same time. This means that tenants are paying a large portion of your mortgage instead of you. Big flex!
