#24: Closing on a new construction home! | Part 3
Closing on my new construction home was a whirlwind! I had spoken to a few friends before my final walkthrough so I felt prepared, but a few things popped up that definitely took me by surprise.
What should you know before you close on a new construction home? Well, one thing is that your real estate agent might not be able to accompany you on your new build final walkthrough. My agent and I arrived and we were shocked to hear that they preferred that she not be present. Like why? So you want a brand new home owner to walk through this home with no knowledge of WHAT to look for? Yikes. Thankfully we had a good relationship with the builder so they allowed her to stay but imagine my shock.
In addition to that, I was late to the final walkthrough because I was struggling to get the title address that is needed for the final payment (down payment + closing costs). It was a mess and I was a mess. It pushed everything for closing day back. But in the end, I got the keys!
