#15: My experience buying a new construction home
When it was time for me to buy my first home, I knew I wanted a new construction home for various reasons.
Some of those reasons were personal preferences and others were strictly financial. The biggest personal gain from a new construction home was that it was my space. No one had lived there before and no one would be living their energy behind for me to maneuver through. This may sound weird to some but I am a big believer in energy being currency. I wanted to be the first person to bless my home and set the tone for the people that would walk in after me.
The biggest financial gain for a new construction home, however, was a built-in warranty. I didn’t want to have to call plumbers for simple challenges like my water not heating up (a true story). I wanted to know that my major appliances were covered for a certain amount of time - and this is what a new home warranty provides. This is not to be confused with home insurance, which I also have. But with a new home warranty, the builder assumes responsibility for certain things in the house because they built it. And they want to make sure it is tip-top shape the same way I do.
